Finally here is the second part of this assignment. My favorite book is The Monster at the End of this Book. The link to my voice thread is http://voicethread.com/share/124297/ I really enjoy using voicethread I think it is simple and could be used with lower elementary!
I really enjoyed doing this project. I had a hard time getting started, but it all worked out in the end.
The first VoiceThread I did was over The Little Poky Puppy. I really enjoy this book, and I remember when my mom would read it to me when I was a little. http://voicethread.com/#u100453.b127121.i662701

I decided to do my children's book voice thread over the book "The Scrambled States of America" This is a such a great book because it is so funny!! The states are presented in a fun manner that the students would enjoy listening to. The book is about the states being bored in their spots since they are there all the time. So, Kansas decides that it would be a good idea to have a states party that way all the states could get to know each other. As the book goes on the states realize that they miss being by their friends and they miss their old spots. So, they decide to go back to where they are supposed to be. I would encourage anyone to read this book.
I really enjoyed using this application. For my unit my students are having to create a narrative about something they have already done. We will eventually move to creating creative stories together. But I want them to get used to telling stories first. My voice thread is just a short example of a story about a real story.

I really like the voice thread project. It was fun finding pictures and topics. It is a little unnerving to hear yourself but you get used to it. I can definitely see myself using this in the classroom for every subject area. It is a great tool for all kinds of projects!
This voice thread is an idea I had for a social studies and writing activity as a way for a 5th grade social studies unit over the civil war. I had learned about this piece in a previous class and I thought of it when I read the details of this assignment. I have sort of illustrated a short musical composition by Aaron Copland. I think this piece is really cool and I thought by adding a little of my own flare to it I could use it to build student vocabulary and to teach them history. I would have the students listen to this then write a response. As the audio passes by I’ve added type to sort of guide listeners so they can think about what they want to write. The writing assignment could be anything. I can hear questions like, “What type of character do you think President Lincoln had?” Another question might be, “Infer what you think President Lincoln meant when he said, “And that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth?”
I knew nothing about voice threads before this. Now that I have figured it out it will be a breeze. It took a while to finish this one. In a sense it reminds me of Imovie but not as serious. This is free and its on the net so anybody in any school with internet can utilize it. There are so man options to generate student response using technology, it is hard to choose.
This project turned out to be better than what I thought it would. I am really glad I learned how to do this, and this will definitely be something I will use with my class someday. By the way, I could not believe how easy this was.
